Join the ranks of an exciting video game studio as they produce their first groundbreaking roguelike deck-builder game! Aiming to repeat the success of their highly successful, $250M-VC-backed unicorn company, this studio’s founders now focus on a new path: creating an outstanding game that learns from the successes of games like Slay the Spire, Griftlands, and Inscryption to build a new sensation on PC and consoles.

Responsibilities and Requirements

As a Senior Game Designer, you will build the core game loops and design the main features of the studio’s first project. Given the nature of the game, previous experience in trading card games and RNG mechanics is paramount.

  • Design the game’s core functionality – loops, card design, balance, etc.
  • Manage the game’s economy and suggest paths for future monetisation
  • Oversee level and arena design and core progression between each
  • Work closely with the Game Director and team members in achieving development goals and milestones

About You

  • At least seven years of experience as a Senior/Lead Game Designer
  • Prior experience in mobile/PC/console games
  • Familiarity with roguelike design and interactions
  • Consistent track record in game design, with previously shipped games
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in in-game economy and monetisation
  • In-depth knowledge of play styles, behaviours, and triggers

Other highly desirable skills include:

  • Previous experience in live-service games
  • Prior experience in auto-battler games

NOTE: Due to the development being in initial stages, the studio would prefer candidates open to relocation to Germany.
