Responsibilities and Requirements

Are you ready to push the boundaries of interactive entertainment and lead a team at the forefront of cutting-edge game development? Our client seeks a visionary Technical Art Director who will conceive, design, and direct high-impact content production workflows and technologies within their dynamic team of Technical Artists.

In this role, you will be pivotal in shaping the studio’s visual and technical foundations. Your expertise will ensure artistic vision is flawlessly integrated with the latest technological innovations, creating a seamless and visually stunning gaming experience.

You’ll be a key member of the development leadership team, collaborating closely with the Art, Animation, Design, and Engineering teams. Your mission is to drive innovation and excellence, leading the way in producing groundbreaking, high-quality games that set new industry standards.

  • Leadership: Guide and inspire the Technical Art team, mentoring them to innovate and excel in their work.
  • Character Creation: Hands-on involvement in producing and implementing in-game character content.
  • R&D: Lead the studio’s research efforts to push the boundaries of real-time character development, staying ahead of industry trends and technologies.
  • Visual Standards: Set and uphold high standards for visual quality, offering critical feedback on technical and artistic aspects of assets.
  • Studio Values: Embody and promote the company’s core values of Excellence, Teamwork, and Integrity.
  • Pipelines: Evaluate, implement, and maintain tools and pipelines to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and improve quality.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Art, Design, and Engineering teams to achieve optimised, cohesive, and visually stunning results, coordinating across different time zones.

About You

  • Significant gaming industry experience as a Technical Art Director or a similar leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, driving artistic vision and setting high standards for quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating technical and artistic expertise, including experience with rigging hyper-realistic characters.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools like Maya and Houdini.
  • Passion for advancing real-time character development, with a keen eye for leveraging new technologies to innovate.
  • Deep knowledge of current art tools and pipelines.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Coding skills, particularly in Python.

Other desirable talents and certifications include:

  • Experience with meta-human character implementation.
  • Ability to use specialised tools within the production pipeline.
  • Experience managing and collaborating with teams across different time zones.
  • Demonstrated CFX experience with simulation-driven assets.
