Responsibilities and Requirements

Our client seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their dynamic distributed team. This role is paramount to ensure the studio’s development and production environments are stable, scalable, and efficient.

  • Design, implement, and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to support the development and release of our ARPG.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate the provisioning and management of development, testing, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and IT teams to streamline workflows, optimise build processes, and improve deployment strategies.
  • Monitor and optimise system performance, reliability, and security across all environments.
  • Implement and manage tools for configuration management, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to deployment, performance, and infrastructure.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in DevOps, cloud services, and game development infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices in DevOps and infrastructure management.

About You

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in DevOps or related roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead position.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
    • Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
    • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
    • Strong understanding of containerisation technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
    • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in infrastructure and deployment issues.
    • Ability to optimise systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaboration:
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Ability to collaborate closely with developers, QA, and IT to streamline and optimise workflows.
  • Security:
    • Knowledge of best practices in security and compliance for cloud-based infrastructure and DevOps processes.
  • Passion:
    • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of how robust DevOps practices contribute to successful game development and operations.

Desirable bonus qualifications include:

  • Experience with Unity game engine deployment and optimisation.
  • Familiarity with ARPGs or similar game genres.
  • Prior experience in the gaming industry or with game development workflows.
  • Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and performance optimisation for online games.
