Responsibilities and Requirements
As the Studio Art Director, you will be the visionary behind the game's visual identity and artistic direction. Your role will involve collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including game designers, artists, animators, programmers, and producers, to ensure our game reaches the pinnacle of visual excellence. The perfect candidate will have a robust background in 3D, technical, and concept art, coupled with outstanding leadership and communication abilities.
- Steer the game's artistic vision, ensuring a unified and visually captivating experience that complements the narrative and gameplay.
- Partner with the game design team to define the visual style, atmosphere, and tone of the game world.
- Provide guidance and critique to concept artists, 3D artists, and technical artists to produce top-notch assets that meet both creative and technical standards.
- Develop and uphold art guidelines, style guides, and documentation to maintain visual consistency across all elements.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies to foster innovation in the art pipeline and workflows.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to manage and prioritize art tasks, ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing quality.
- Mentor and motivate the art team, cultivating a creative and collaborative atmosphere that promotes growth and development.
- Work with marketing and promotional teams to create engaging visuals for trailers, promotional materials, and other marketing assets.
- Oversee the user interface and user experience design process to ensure visual harmony and a seamless player experience.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, presenting and defending artistic choices while being receptive to feedback and iteration.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Game Design, or a closely related discipline. A Master's degree is advantageous.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) as an Art Director in the gaming industry, ideally with a background in AAA titles.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in 3D art, technical art, and concept art across various styles.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, ZBrush, Substance Suite, and more.
- Comprehensive understanding of game development pipelines and the technical limitations of art production.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring and directing a diverse team of artists.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed artistic decisions that enhance gameplay and player experience.
- Knowledge of sports-based games and their specific visual requirements is a plus.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
- A passion for gaming and a deep appreciation for the artistry needed to create unforgettable experiences.
